If you’re a Readability user, you can add your Read Later queue as well. Reeder now supports, Feedbin, Feedly, Feed Wrangler, and Fever. All of the animations have full motion, and will be right at home when iOS 7 comes out. For example, the Mark All Read dialog pops up from the bottom of the screen and shakes into place. ![]() All of the traditions have extremely detailed animations, none of which slowed down my iPhone 4S, iPad Retina (1st gen), or iPad Mini. You can swipe a single finger to the left or right to move through the levels of interface if you swipe right on an article you bring up the sharing menu as a popover. Once you click on the feed, your article list and article slide in from the right as a two panel interface. (That’s correct, if you want to sign up for more than one RSS service, you can.) Then you get your folders, and finally your feeds. The app initially opens to a three panel interface, with the leftmost panel where you select services. Though obviously the wide array of RSS services was the impetus for the Reeder update, its interface is likely the biggest and best feature of the new version. This update is ready for iOS 7 and was well worth the wait. It’s universal on iOS, and has some serious interface tweaks in addition to the new services. Now, Reeder 2 is here, and it’s a real update to the app. But the iPhone app was updated with Feedly and a few other services, a small consolation. Reader people are just weird, sorry.) When Google Reader was shuttered earlier this year, Reeder users on an iPad or Mac were left without their RSS reader of choice. There's also a handy keyboard shortcut (Alt + R) to invoke Fika, and it's surprisingly fast.Reeder was the Google Reader client to beat on OS X and iOS until Google Reader died. The reader pane's background and font color can also be changed between four choices.Īs expected, you can choose from six different fonts while in Fika mode, the size of the text (small, medium, large), and normal or justified alignment. You can quickly scroll by clicking on these, and it serves as a nice sidebar while reading longform pieces.įika also lets you set custom background photos from a set of 25 nature-themed wallpapers or use a custom color background. ![]() ![]() In a move inspired by Amazon Kindle, Fika creates a Table of Contents (ToC) for the article based on sub-headers in the original piece. But Fika offers a little more than the default features of all these, namely stripping clutter from an article and presenting it in a readable design. Safari, Edge, and Firefox already come with a built-in Reader Mode now, and you can also enable Reader Mode in Chrome as part of an experimental feature. Omoguru is optimized for news websites, but it also works on web apps too, like Gmail and Facebook. ![]() You can switch Omoguru on and off with a simple toggle in the extension. Like so many reading focus extensions, Omoguru also has a Reader Mode for any pages that are articles, which you can also enable through the right-click context menu. You can choose from seven types of fonts in both sans and sans serif, set how much you want to zoom the text on any page, set a custom background color for all pages, and how much space to leave between lines. Essentially, Omoguru will change how text appears on any website, customized to how you want it. Of course, anyone is free to use the extension. Their Chrome extension is a fantastic example of how they make the online reading experience better for people with dyslexia, focus, and attention difficulties. Omoguru is a reading inventions company that develops a series of solutions to make it easier for anyone to read.
